Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil
Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil is the Founder and Non-Executive Chairman of Burjeel Holdings. His leadership has transformed the company into one of the largest healthcare providers in the Middle East, with a diverse portfolio that includes hospitals, medical centers, homecare services, occupational health, and retail pharmacies. Since opening the first hospital in Abu Dhabi in 2007, Dr. Shamsheer has focused on addressing gaps in the healthcare sector, driving the expansion and innovation of Burjeel Holdings and improving healthcare quality across the region.
Dr. Shamsheer has been a member of several significant healthcare and industry boards, including the UAE Medical Council. He has been honored globally for his work, receiving prestigious recognitions for his excellence in healthcare, entrepreneurship, and social initiatives. He is a recipient of Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award, India’s highest civilian award for Non-Resident Indians. He has also played a crucial role in promoting national talent, earning accolades like the Nafis Award for increasing Emirati participation in the healthcare sector.
A committed philanthropist, Dr. Shamsheer attributes his charitable values to his upbringing in Kozhikode, Kerala, where his family emphasized the importance of giving back to the community.
