The August edition of Burjeel Holdings Feat Focus is here. This month highlights our contributions to the UAE’s evolving healthcare landscape as the nation transforms into a premier destination for advanced medical care. Our expertise in complex, precision care across specialties such as oncology, transplantation, fetal therapy, and precision surgery holds a key place in this transition.

One such milestone was in pediatrics, where our multi-organ transplant team at Burjeel Medical City (BMC) performed the UAE’s youngest infant liver transplant on five-month-old Ahmed Yahya, who battled a rare genetic disorder.

August also marked the beginning of our unique prosthetic program, ‘10 Journeys’, which provides free osseointegration surgeries to 10 individuals from around the world. The first three beneficiaries from Palestine, the U.S., and India are already taking their first steps toward independence, with seven more to regain mobility in the coming months. Besides, at Burjeel Hospital, Abu Dhabi, our multidisciplinary team helped a baby born at 27 weeks and weighing 930 grams overcome a rare hernia through a high-risk surgery.

Expanding our complex care footprint, DOCKTOUR, our joint maritime-medical venture with AD Ports, signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Health Ministry of Angola to boost healthcare infrastructure, supply chains, and medical services across Angola and Africa.

Meanwhile, in a bid to provide more personalized and affordable care, we have embraced Pharmacogenomics and Biosimilars to ensure patients receive the most suitable treatments at the earliest, based on their genetic makeup.
